Thanks Reijo!

It's great progress when you see this kind of expression :o  on the Drivers early in the morning (during an unexpected slide), then later on the day they'll be... :) :D  :D and looking very much like a Pro sliding the car. :)

Great shots Ian!

I _love_ what the CP filter does to paint... (and windshields).

Thanks Grant! Yep, I love the CirPol filter too, especially the way the photog could created a shot that could ummm... penetrate through the windshield. :P

Temps are still good but supposed to fall in the afternoon, so for anyone coming out, make sure you bring enough clothing (beyond a light jacket etc) just in case it does get cold/windy.

Also, if you have not been out or are wandering about, come out and spectate, ride-along etc. We have quite a good setup now and the schools I think have become quite successful ... IMHO.

I got some serious "good" out of the school on Saturday. I have tried rallyX events in the Mazda3, and the banging sound from under the hood was alarming. I got to drive a Mazda5 that made exactly the same banging sounds as my Mazda3 -- both cars exhibit massive wheel hop and engine mount distress when accelerating on a rough surface.

Complete set of poly motor mounts ordered this morning. Goodbye HS and hello STF :)

I wonder if an additional torque arm/suppressor (STF legal also) would work to keep the engine from moving around too much? Also, you are sure your shocks are ok? But as you said, some vehicles are prone to the hopping under heavy acceleration from standstills (or close to)...

I had the shocks checked a few weeks ago -- they are fine. If you looked at the factory motor mounts, you would see why hopping is such an issue. The rear mount has big slots cut into the rubber to make it super compliant, and the side mount is a big fluid filled donut. I am not sure that a torque suppressor is even available for a Mazda3, but until the motor is held in place, I can't see it doing much good.

Ah, they are trying to isolate shock and vibration from the engine to the chassis I suppose. Probably the MazdaSpeed would have more solid mounts for the engine.

By the way have you checked into joining Mazdaspeed? You can get all kinds of parts from them if you join for cost/discounts, good contingencies etc. ... also deals on new vehicles .. stock and aftermarket (Mazdaspeed) parts ...

Mazda supports racing more than any other manufacturer...
